SCARY SKELETONS - JIT POOK COOH COLLECTIVE

Halloween is for everyone - even the little ones who aren’t quite ready for the big scares! 

These aren't just any skeletons. They are handcrafted in Mexico by the Jit pook cooh collective, a group of talented Mayan women in Campeche. They grow the Jipijapa plants in their own yards, dry the leaves in the sun, and then take them deep into underground caves. The natural humidity of the earth softens the fibers, allowing the women to weave the figures by hand without the palm breaking.
